Tigers move to 7-0 on the season.

The tigers improved to 7-0 (2-0 in conference) on the 08-09 campaign with a 59-9 victory over Southern Durham.  Freshman Roscoe Burnette, Captains Corey Mock and Josh Craig, and Jon Lee picked up pins.  The JV's won all 4 of their matches last night as well.  Gabe Gran, Bobby Nelson and Jaun Collazzo each had a pin.

Josh, Juan, Jon, and Joey all advanced to the consolation finals. In the JV tournament, Roscoe 1st, Davis and Foil 2nd, and Brett 3rd.

Corey has made it to the finals while Mumper fell 4-2, Josh 5-1, and Jon 8-4. The consolations are coming up. The JV's are doing great. I know Roscoe and Davis are in the finals (possibly Foil as well).

CHHS Picks up a Conference Win over Northern Durham

The Tigers started their defense of the conference title with a big win over Northern Durham. The wrestling took place in the old gym with no clock and score board, but the team stepped up and wrestled really well. Bobby Nelson and Nick Speaker's pins fired up the team and were the keys to victory. Not to be overlooked were the performances of Andrew Hertzberg and Matt Huge versus Northern's big two, Takla and Cravin.

Warming up before practice

We needed to hit the mats a bit on Friday to work off some of that Thanksgiving Day turkey. Take a close look and you will see Patrick McGuire in there with the guys. CHHS's first state champ came to practice that last two days to show they guys he still has what it takes.

Recap from the Tiger Quad

he team improved to 5-0 on the season with three wins last night. We kicked off the night with a win Granville Central, coached by former CHHS standout David Bennard. The highlight of this match was Nick Speaker picking up his first varsity win. Nick stood out all night for those of you who were not there. Next up for the Tigers was a rematch with the team that knocked us out of the State playoffs last season, Green Hope. An excellent effort was put forth by the team and our lose was avenged. Ryan Mumper wrapped the match up with a pin at 103 pounds and improved his record on the season to 5-0. The final match of the night was against Athens Drive. Again a team effort was the key to victory. The highlights of this match was a toss up between Aaron Squires' last second victory or Peter Dreher's overtime victory over a previously undefeated wrestler.
